The article presents data on studying correspondence between psychological defense mechanisms and coping strategies in teenage and adolescent years within the context of a unified system of self-regulation and adaptation. The relevance of research into defensive-coping behavior is conditioned by the need to understand interaction between defense mechanisms and coping strategies in teenage years and adolescence, as well as to solve the practical problem, i.e.

Peculiarities Manifestationsof of the Psychological Defence Mechanisms Used by the Students of Psychology Department at University Depending on Vitality

The article sets out the research data demonstrating the distinctive features of psychological defence used by the students of psychology departments with increased and decreased viability. Significant differences were found in the dominant psychological defence mechanisms of the students. It has been revealed that the students with increased viability are inclined to choose «denial» and «rationalization» as psychological defence mechanisms while the students with reduced viability choose «projection» and «regression».
