Psychology of Social Development

The article presents results of the empirical investigation dedicated to studying gender-related peculiarities of coping strategies choices. The empirical base of the investigation consisted of 50 people, among them 25 males and 25 females aged 25–35 years old. Coping strategies were studied with Hobfoll’s questionnaire. Statistical analysis of the obtained data was done with SPSS 17.0 package. We also used Pearson’s correlation analysis and Student’s t-test. It was found out that the prevailing coping strategies in the sample were active and passive constructive coping strategies.

The article presents the results of theoretical and empirical investigation, which is devoted to socio-political phenomena and satisfaction with life. The investigation was made on a sample of representatives of the Russian, Tartar and Kazakhs ethnic groups (Saratov Region, N = 30). Achievement of utmost levels and increase in depopulation, inadequate reflection of the gender factor in population policy determines the increase of the crisis and the risks of the contemporary society.

Actuality and social as well as practical significance of studying victim behaviour in adolescence as the most vulnerable are grounded in the article. The results of psychological diagnostic study that was directed to identifying the adolescent behavioral strategies which dominate in a conflict, the teenagers' bent to different types of victim behaviour and correlating connections between the defined indices are described.

We present the data of theoretical and empirical study of the problem of correlation of tolerance to uncertainty and coping behavior. Empirical research was carried out on a sample of managers of organizations of the Udmurt Republic and the Perm Krai (N = 168; mean age is 33 years) with the use of psycho-diagnostic tools: McLane's tolerance to uncertainty questionnaire (MSTAT-1) adapted by E. G. Lugovitskaya; questionnaire «Strategies of overcoming stressful situations» (SOSS) by S. Hobfoll adapted by N. E. Vodopyanova, E. S. Starchenkova.

We present the data of the theoretical analysis of psychological indicators that reveal the specifics of choosing movies by the youth spectators, clarify the meaning of cinema myths in the formation of role models and justifying the correctness of one’s life scenarios. We present the results of empirical research carried out on a sample of students (N = 99, aged 20–23) with the use of diagnostic tools: author questionnaire, the «Who am I in this world» technique (V. V. Novikov), the technique to study the level of subjective control (E. F. Bazhin, E. A. Golynkina, L. M. Etkind).

We have offered the theoretical analysis of the problem of value orientations of a person in psychology. We have considered psychologists' representation of the value system of a person as the hierarchy of their beliefs. The role of premarital relationship in the formation of value orientations and behaviors among today's youth is indicated. The study that we conducted on a sample of young people revealed the specifics of value orientations of young people having premarital relations.
